1. Bank of China Qoo10 World Mastercard
BOC Qoo10 World Mastercard
Benefits | With minimum spend of S$800 monthly: 1. 15% Qmoney rebate on public transport 2. 10% Qmoney rebate on Qoo10 3. 3% Qmoney rebate on selected categories, including cinemas, pubs, karaoke, fast food, and non-Qoo10 online spending |
Caps | S$70 overall monthly cap, comprising:
|
Foreign Transactions | 3% foreign currency transaction fee |
Installment Plans? | N/A |
Although first on this list, this card isn’t our top pick simply because of how niche it is. But if you spend a lot of time shopping on Qoo10, you’ll find there’s no other card offering cashback rates as high as this.
In particular, the 15% rebate on public transport is the highest we’ve ever seen.
Granted, all your rebates will come in the form of Qmoney, usable only on Qoo10. That’s why this card is really only for those who love gaming Qoo10’s system for the best deals.
Not so good: Higher-than-average annual fees and not many benefits beyond the Qoo10 rebates.
Annual fee: S$205.20 with fee waiver for first year
Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income
2. CIMB Visa Signature Card
CIMB Visa Signature Card
Benefits | With minimum spend of S$800 monthly, 10% cashback on: 1. Online shopping 2. Groceries 3. Beauty & Wellness 4. Pet Shops & Veterinary Services 5. Cruises |
Caps | S$100 overall monthly cap, comprising S$20 per category |
Foreign Transactions | 3% foreign currency transaction fee |
Installment Plans? | Available with CIMB 0% i.Pay Plan |
Of the cards in our list, the CIMB Visa Signature offers the highest cashback for online shopping. But that comes with a catch: most of the other cashback categories are unusual. (The majority of us don’t spend S$200 a month on cruises, for example.)
If you’re a pet owner and spa lover, you might be one of the few able to take advantage of this card. Alternatively, get this card just before you purchase a beauty package and/or cruise – after all, the card is free.
Not so good: At a 10% rebate, you’ll max out your cashback with just S$200 on online shopping. You’ll then have to spend on one or more of the niche categories to hit the S$800 minimum spend.
Annual fee: Free for life for all Principal and Supplementary cards.
Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income
3. Citi Rewards Card
Citi Rewards Card
Benefits | With no minimum spend, 10X Rewards (4 miles) on: 1. Online and in-person shopping purchases 2. Grab, Gojek, and other private hire services 3. Online food and grocery delivery |
Caps | 10X Rewards capped at 10,000 Points per statement month (first S$1,000 in spending) |
Foreign Transactions | 3.25% foreign currency transaction fee |
Installment Plans? | Available with Citi PayLite and Citi FlexiBill |
The Citi Rewards Card is one of the few options on our list with no minimum spend required to start reaping benefits. Further, it doesn’t restrict you to a certain shopping platform – as long as the transaction is made via the internet or a mobile app, that is.
One thing though: You won’t earn 10X Rewards on any online travel bookings or travel-related transactions with this card. But you probably don’t want to be charging plane tickets to this anyway, given the low rewards cap of S$1,000 monthly spending.
The cherry on top? Citibank usually has great welcome offers and credit card deals. Take advantage of these in your shopping spree – like the S$20 off Amazon.sg with a minimum S$60 spend for first-time customers (that’s ⅓ off!)
Not so good: Using this card in your mobile wallet won’t qualify you for 10X Reward Points. Also, while the 4 miles-per-dollar rate is excellent, converting your Reward Points into rebates only amounts to about 2.2% cashback in most cases.
Annual fee: S$194.40 with fee waiver for first year
Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income
4. Citi Lazada Card
Citi Lazada Card
Given that many of us turn to Lazada for small and large purchases, the Citi Lazada Card offers users an excellent way to earn cashback and rewards. But like most niche cards, the rewards-to-spending ratio isn’t great for anything besides that one platform.
Benefits | With no minimum spend: 1. 10X Rewards on Lazada 2. 5X Rewards on Grab, Gojek, and taxis 3. 5X Rewards on dining, including restaurants, fast food, drinking places, and caterers 4. 5X Rewards on Netflix and Spotify 5. 5X Rewards on cinemas and theatre 6. 5X Rewards on travel-related transactions 7. 4 shipping rebates on Lazada per month |
Caps | Bonus Reward Points capped at 9,000 monthly |
Foreign Transactions | 3.25% foreign currency transaction fee |
Installment Plans? | Available with Citi PayLite and Citi FlexiBill |
Despite its name, this card isn’t nearly as restrictive as the Bank of China Qoo10 card. You can use the Citi Lazada Card for anything from dining out to movie tickets and your Netflix/Spotify subscriptions.
That said, the best rewards-to-spending ratio will still be from Lazada transactions. This card draws from the same rewards catalogue as the Citi Rewards Card, which means that using this card on one of the 5X categories will only yield about 1.1% cashback or 2MPD.
Not so good: The 10X Rewards doesn’t apply to RedMart purchases, which falls under a different Merchant Category Code. You’ll earn just 1X for your RedMart groceries.
Annual fee: S$194.40 with fee waiver for first year
Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income
5. DBS Live Fresh Card
DBS Live Fresh Card
You know this card was designed for an eco-conscious, cashless society from the rebates it gives in these categories. Its lower-than-average minimum spend and annual fee also hold an appeal for those wanting more flexibility with their credit cards.
Benefits | With minimum spend of S$600 monthly: 1. 5% cashback on online purchases 2. 5% cashback on Visa contactless transactions + extra 5% Green cashback on selected eco-eateries, retailers, and transport services 3. 0.3% cashback for all other spending |
Caps | Cashback capped at
|
Foreign Transactions | 3.25% foreign currency transaction fee |
Installment Plans? | Available with DBS Payment Plans |
If you want sustainable services built into your lifestyle, consider the DBS Live Fresh Card. On top of being made from 85.5% recycled plastic, the DBS Live Fresh Card offers you excellent rebates when you transact with eco-friendly merchants.
Also, remember when we said the BOC Qoo10 Card has the best rebates for public transport? This card offers the second best. You’ll get 10% cashback on bus and train rides via SimplyGo – or better yet, rent a bicycle or electric vehicle from services like SG Bike or BlueSG.
Not so good: Cashback for online spending is capped at S$20 monthly, which means you can only earn rebates for up to S$400 in online purchases.
Annual fee: S$194.40 with fee waiver for first year
Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income
Current promotion: Get S$150 cashback with promo code 150CASH when you spend a minimum of S$800 within the first 60 days from card approval date. (Valid until 31 January 2024) Click to apply.
6. DBS Woman’s World Card
DBS Woman’s & Woman’s World Card
Benefits | With no minimum spend:
|
Caps | Bonus points applicable only to the first S$2,000 online spend per month |
Foreign Transactions |
|
Installment Plans? | Available with My Preferred Payment Plan |
Though this card has a much higher annual income requirement, this is one of the best cards if you shop at both local and foreign online stores. And contrary to its name, men can apply for this card too.
While you can’t pool DBS Points across various DBS credit cards, you can redeem your DBS Points for a range of rewards including dining vouchers at specific restaurants, cash donations to a charity of your choice, miles, and shopping vouchers. Choosing cash vouchers will essentially net you between 3 – 3.33% cashback on your spending.
Not so good: This card isn’t great for anything other than online spending. For example, in-person shopping at local stores only gets the base rate of 1X DBS Point per S$5.
Annual fee: S$194.40 with fee waiver for first year. Fee waiver for the next year when you charge S$25,000 to the DBS Woman’s World Card in a statement year.
Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$80,000 annual income
7. HSBC Advance Credit Card
HSBC Advance Credit Card
This card is best for HSBC bank account holders who want to maximise cashback on over S$2,000 in monthly spending. If you don’t have an HSBC account – or you plan to charge less than S$2,000 to the card – there are better options.
Benefits |
|
Caps |
|
Foreign Transactions |
|
Instalment Plans? | Available through the HSBC Singapore app |
If you spend S$2,000 or more every month, you’d be hard-pressed to find a card with a better cashback rate. However, you’ll need an HSBC Everyday Global Account along with the ability to deposit S$2,000 in fresh funds every month. Otherwise, your cashback tops out at 2.5%.
More noteworthy mentions:
- You’ll get up to S$150 in cashback when you apply for supplementary cards for your whole family. Supplementary cardholder transactions also count toward the minimum spend requirement, making this a great family-friendly card for general spending.
- Of the options in this list, this card has the lowest foreign transaction fee.
Not so good: For those who don’t plan to open an HSBC account or spend at least S$2,000 monthly. You’ll get just 1.5% cashback in that case.
Annual fee: S$194.40 with fee waiver for first year. Thereafter, automatic fee waiver when you charge S$12,500 to the card in that year.
Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income
Current promotion: Receive S$30 cash via PayNow upon card approval and activation (Valid until 31 August 2023)
8. HSBC Revolution Card
HSBC Revolution Credit Card
Benefits | With no minimum spend: 1. 10X Rewards (4 miles) on online shopping 2. 10X Rewards (4 miles) on Visa contactless payments through Paywave, Apple Pay, or Google Pay 3. 1X Rewards on all other spend Extra 1% cashback when you deposit S$2,000 in fresh funds to an HSBC Everyday Global Account and perform at least 5 eligible transactions monthly. |
Caps | 10X Rewards capped at 10,000 Points per statement month (first S$1,000 in spending) 1% cashback from HSBC Everyday+ capped at S$300 monthly, or S$500 for HSBC Premier and Jade clients. |
Foreign Transactions | 2.8% foreign currency transaction fee |
Installment Plans? | Available through the HSBC Singapore app |
If you can’t meet a S$2,000 minimum spend, the HSBC Revolution Card is an alternative to the HSBC Advance Card. Like the Citi Rewards Card, you’ll get 10X Rewards – except this card focuses on online and mobile contactless payments.
But what we like most about this card is how low-maintenance it is. For one, there are no annual fees for either the principal or supplementary cards. You’ll also start earning rewards from the very first dollar – unlike cards that break your spending up into blocks of S$5.
Not so good: You’ll need a different card for any big-ticket purchases beyond S$1,000.
Annual fee: None!
Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income
9. Maybank Platinum Visa Card
Maybank Platinum Visa Card
Benefits | With minimum spend of S$300 monthly each quarter, 3.33% cashback on all local and foreign currency spend. Links with a Maybank savings account for higher interest with the Maybank Save Up Programme. |
Caps |
|
Foreign Transactions |
|
Installment Plans? | Available only at participating outlets |
Like the HSBC Revolution Card, the Maybank Platinum Visa Card is great for those looking for a low-maintenance option. The difference is that you’ll get straight cashback instead of reward points. This may be preferable if you don’t want the hassle of converting your reward points.
This card is best for those who have consistent expenses of at least S$300 every month. With that, you’ll get 3.33% cashback on all local and foreign currency spend – arguably the best rate for this spending level. (You’d get a sad 0.2 – 0.3% with most other cards.)
Not so good: You’ll need to meet the minimum spend for every month in the quarter to qualify for cashback.
Annual fee: S$80 with fee waiver for three years. Automatic fee waiver when you charge to your card once every three months.
Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income
Current promotions:
- Get S$80 cash if you’re a new Maybank cardmember.
- Get a Samsonite Harts 68/25 Spinner (S$500) or S$100 cashback if you’re a new-to-Maybank cardmember and you spend at least S$300 monthly for two consecutive months.
10. Maybank Family & Friends Card
Maybank Family and Friends
Benefits | With minimum spend of S$800 monthly, 8% global cashback on your choice of five out of these 10 categories: 1. Groceries 2. Dining & Food Delivery 3. Transport 4. Data Communication & Online TV Streaming 5. Retail & Pets 6. Online Fashion 7. Entertainment 8. Pharmacy 9. Sports & Sports Apparel 10. Beauty & Wellness |
Caps | S$125 overall monthly cap, comprising S$25 per category |
Foreign Transactions |
|
Installment Plans? | Available only at participating outlets |
The first highlight of the Maybank Family & Friends Card is its 8% global cashback. That means whether you’re shopping at a local or foreign online store, you’ll get the same cashback regardless.
While the Maybank Family & Friends Card can’t top the CIMB Visa Signature’s 10% cashback, its strong point is in its diverse – and accessible – range of categories. You can get cashback on common expenses like movie tickets, Netflix or telco subscriptions, groceries, Foodpanda, public transport, and more.
And given that you can select your preferred cashback categories, hitting the S$800 minimum spend across multiple categories shouldn’t be an issue.
Not so good: This card only rewards you for online transactions with “apparels, shoes, accessories, leather goods, luggage, and other fashion purchases globally.” Platforms like Qoo10, Shopee, and Ezbuy are safe as they fall under an approved Merchant Category Code (MCC), but best not to use this card with Taobao or Lazada.
Annual fee: S$180 with fee waiver for three years
Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income
11. OCBC Frank Credit Card
OCBC Frank Credit Card
Benefits | With minimum spend of S$600 monthly:
|
Caps | S$75 overall monthly cap, comprising S$25 per category |
Foreign Transactions |
|
Installment Plans? | Available with OCBC PayLite |
The OCBC Frank Credit Card has the same S$600 minimum spend requirement as the DBS Live Fresh Card. But where the DBS Live Fresh focuses on environmentally-conscious spending, the OCBC Frank emphasises online, app, and mobile contactless payments.
It also offers a higher general cashback rate, though nothing beats the DBS Live Fresh Card’s rebates for eco-friendly merchant transactions.
Designed for young adults just entering the workforce, the OCBC Frank Card combines low annual fees and minimum spend with great cashback.
Not so good: You’ll hit the cashback cap with just $416.67 in online or mobile contactless spending, so this card isn’t great for big-ticket items. There are no rebates for public transport as well.
Annual fee: S$80 with fee waiver for two years. Thereafter, automatic fee waiver when you charge S$10,000 to the card in that year.
Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income
12. UOB EVOL Card
UOB Evol Credit Card
Benefits | With minimum spend of S$600 monthly:
|
Caps | S$60 overall monthly cap, comprising S$20 per category |
Foreign Transactions | 3.25% foreign currency transaction fee |
Installment Plans? | Available with UOB SmartPay |
Like the OCBC Frank Credit Card, the UOB EVOL Card requires just S$600 minimum spend and covers online shopping as well as mobile contactless payments.
The main difference is in the cashback caps: with the UOB EVOL, you’ll hit the cap with just S$250 in online or mobile contactless spend. This forces you to spend another S$100 on transactions that yield just 0.3% cashback to hit the minimum requirement.
If you spend almost exactly S$250 each with online shopping and mobile contactless payments, the UOB EVOL Card yields more cashback in the long run. But if you find yourself spending S$350 or more on both categories, the OCBC Frank Credit Card gives you higher rebates in the long run.
Not so good: Low cashback cap means you’re forced to spend on transactions that give you a sad 0.3% rebate. Also, foreign transactions won’t get 8% cashback.
Annual fee: S$194.40 with automatic fee waiver when you make three purchases every month for 12 months before your next annual fee date.
Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income
13. UOB KrisFlyer Card
UOB Krisflyer Card
Benefits |
|
Caps | None! |
Foreign Transactions | 3.25% foreign currency transaction fee |
Installment Plans? | Available with UOB SmartPay |
If you’re a miles hacker who only flies Singapore Airlines or Scoot, you’ll appreciate this card. You’ll need to spend at least S$500 a year on SIA group or KrisShop, but this shouldn’t be too difficult for the average middle-class professional.
What’s great about this card is that there’s no cap on rewards. It also covers a range of everyday expenses that you’re likely to spend on, making it easy to rack up those miles quickly.
Not so good: You’ll get rewards for blocks of S$5 in spending, which means it’s a bad idea to use this card for a series of small transactions. Also, you’ll only get the KrisFlyer miles in your account two months after the annual fee is posted – which is a long time to wait.
Annual fee: S$194.40 with fee waiver for first year
Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income
14. UOB One Card
UOB One Credit Card
Benefits | With minimum spend of S$2,000 monthly:
|
Caps | Cashback capped at S$200 per quarter |
Foreign Transactions | 3.25% foreign currency transaction fee |
Installment Plans? | Available with UOB SmartPay |
Like the HSBC Advance Credit Card, you’ll need to spend S$2,000 monthly to maximise your cashback with the UOB One Card. But the UOB One is far more selective about the merchants they offer cashback on.
Still, if you’re on Shopee for nearly everything and you buy your groceries from Cold Storage, this card might work for you. And for all the retail transactions that don’t qualify for 10% cashback, you’ll still get 3.33% cashback.
Not so good: You have to hit S$2,000 minimum spend every month in the quarter to qualify for max cashback.
Annual fee: S$194.40 with fee waiver for first year
Eligibility: Minimum 21 years old with at least S$30,000 annual income
